Meet Bill & Betty Schmidt. Bill and Betty Schmidt have recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. It was Betty’s mother who convinced Bill to join the local Masonic Lodge in Homewood, Illinois. He was employed by the Pullman Company at the time as supervising engineer. Betty is a 50 year member of OES and is the daughter of two prior generations of Masons.
Bill took the advice of his Mother-in-law and his wife and, in 1950 became part of the Homewood, Illinois Neighbor Lodge #1169 where he ultimately held the Worshipful Master’s Chair.
In 1969, Bill and Betty moved to Michigan after he retired in order to live closer to family, Bill became a member of the Saugatuck Michigan Lodge 328 where, in 2001 he served for a year as Worshipful Master.
